"Seed Vessel" Joan Powell

The 2005 Biennial Faculty Invitational showcases the talent and creative spirit of the artists who teach our classes and workshops in the Craft Alliance studios. You may know them as teachers and not be aware of them as artists. Many of them are part of the St. Louis community and teach the weekly classes to children and adults and others have been invited from across the country to teach a weekend workshop. They come to the studios to share their love of craft, materials, teaching and making.

Each has been willing to give the students ideas and technical information in order for them to succeed. Each wants to spark a student’s enthusiasm for finding their voice in clay, metals, glass, weaving, surface design, drawing and painting. And several are artists who exhibit nationally and locally and teach workshops across the country. I am proud of our faculty and the skills they possess and impart and I hope you will consider learning from them here at our studios and allowing them to help you discover your own creative voice.
