GRAND CENTER: 2008-2009 Exhibitions
 |
Michael Shaughnessy
September 19, 2008-January 11, 2009
FREE Opening Reception: Friday, September 19, 6-9pm
Shaughnessy’s use of hay as a medium springs, in part, from its capacity to evoke powerful associations with food, bedding and shelter. The notions of reuse and regeneration are integral to Shaughnessy’s working processes and philosophy, and are inherent in the work itself. |

Jennifer Angus
January-May 2009
Angus creates installations composed of insects pinned directly to a wall in repeating patterns which reference both textiles and wallpaper. Her work is influenced by the Victorian era, invoking the Victorian aesthetic of taste, clutter and exotica from an age in which travel, exploration and scientific study were immensely popular. |

Tim Curtis
May-August 2009
Curtis’s work involves the many crucial passages in life ranging from one physical or emotional state to another. These statements are intended to remind us of our inherent primal condition and the inevitable "passage" we all must face. These sculptures can be viewed as vessels or carriers of metaphysical meaning. |
The 2008-2009 Craft Alliance Exhibition Series is funded with the support
of the Regional Arts Commission, the Arts & Education Council and
the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency.
