Since 2008, Craft Alliance has hosted its Artists-In-Residence program, an opportunity that has supported more than 40 emerging local artists in developing their careers. The next creators to join that cohort for the 2022-2023 season will be artists Mee Jey and Marina Peng.
According to Grant Benoit, director of education programs at Craft Alliance, the 11-month program allows participants to engage with the creative community while honing their skills. Jey and Peng will receive access to a Craft Alliance studio, a material fund, teaching opportunities, and other resources designed to mesh with their professional aspirations.
“We’re connecting these artists to communities that they may not have access to,” Benoit says. “At the very end [of the program], they’re able to have a group exhibit at the Staenberg Gallery with a catalog. The whole program is about giving them the time to access that platform.”
