Glazing Techniques for Gas and Electric Kiln Firing

Learn to understand the components of glazes and how to make recipes using a gram scale. In this class you will acquire a knowledge of using and identifying clays, fluxes and oxides that make up the glazes. The class will review and observe the effects of oxidation and reduction in our gas and electric kilns. A basic review of dipping, pouring, brushing and spraying glazes will be demonstrated. Students need to bring bisque ware and a KN95 dust mask.
*Prerequisite: Any Craft Alliance clay course, Handbuilding or Wheelthrowing.
