Introduction to Relief Printmaking

Introduction to Relief Printmaking (5wks)

January 6 - February 10 (no class 1/20)

In this five-week course students have the opportunity to choose a relief printmaking concentration. After choosing either wood block or linoleum, participants will plan a 2-3 layer fine art edition to print on archival paper utilizing one of Craft Alliance’s three presses. Students will also learn how to choose and mix a color palette using the CMYK process, as well as how to trim paper to use a registration system. Finally, students will see how to hand burnish a print, for making prints at home, without a press.
Each student will take home an edition of prints as well as their carved blocks.
Students will need to wear closed toe shoes and be aware that clothes may get stained with ink.
