Petal to the Metal

Introduction to Glass Beadmaking

Petal to the Metal

March 22

From tulips to roses, lilacs to orchids, jasmines, daffodils, irises, and lilies, students will use borosilicate glass to sculpt the individual parts of flowers - including petals, stems, and leaves - and then connect them with the heat of a torch.  Flowers can be kept as sculptures or turned into jewelry.  Some experience with hot glass is recommended.  Students are also encouraged to bring reference photos and/or flowers for inspiration.
