Fidencio Fifield-Perez faces scrutiny and political debate every day in the United States. Born in Oaxaca, Mexico, his family migrated to North Carolina for a better life and more opportunities. Fifield-Perez was raised in North Carolina, and attended Memphis College of Art for a BFA. Upon graduating from MCA, Fifield-Perez first applied for DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) which allowed him to attend The University of Iowa for an MA and a MFA. His work explores his personal experiences with immigration and the concept of home. He uses craft techniques and family traditions to create his visual language.
