Learn and use the Mokume Gane technique to create a small billet which will then be used to fabricate a seamless ring.

Create a colorful, wearable piece of art using the ancient process of enameling.

January 15

Wearables Series: Photo Etching a Copper Cuff

Bring in a favorite photo and transfer it to copper using the etching process.

Surface Design: Customized Graver

The round graver is a great introduction to engraving. Learn to size and shape a graver to fit in your hand, sharpen a graver, and then use it to incise lines into metal.


Raising, Forming & Fabrication

Using a variety of hammers, stakes, and mallets, achieve concave and convex forms through angle raising, crimping, stretching, sinking, and fold-forming.

January 19 – February 10

Jewelry Foundations: Level 1

Designed for students with little or no prior metalworking experience. Learn traditional metalsmithing techniques such as sawing, piercing, forming, soldering, and more!

Mondays 6:00 – 9:00 PM

Jewelry Foundations: Level 2

Students complete projects, both directed and independent, which are designed to draw from and improve basic metalsmithing skills learned in Jewelry Foundations: Level 1.

Tuesdays 6:00 – 9:00 PM

Jewelry + Metalsmithing: Level 3

Intermediate students continue to refine technical skills while guidance is provided in creating one-of-a-kind jewelry, small scale sculpture, and functional objects.

Sundays 2:00 – 5:00 PM

Thursdays 10:30 AM – 1:30 PM

Advanced Metalsmithing: Level 4

Students will receive individualized instruction as they work on self-directed projects. Students must be proficient with piercing, sawing, filing, and high temperature soldering.

Saturdays 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Tuesdays 10:00 AM – 1:30 PM

Centrifugal Casting Projects 1

Learn to create models to cast into metal with the centrifugal casting machine. Explore additive and subtractive wax techniques as well as how to cast organic or plastic materials.

Wednesdays 6:00 – 9:00 PM

Centrifugal Casting Projects 2

For intermediate to advanced students who wish to expand and refine their centrifugal casting techniques. Learn to make a vulcanized rubber mold allowing students to make multiple wax models to cast multiples.

Thursdays 6:00 – 9:00 PM

Metal Open Studio

A 2 hour open studio session for advanced metal students wanting to work independently. *Prerequisite: Completion of two metals classes during the calendar year.
